A friend recently told me that I was a gatherer of children. Yes, I have to admit that 10 children qualifies me as a gatherer and them as a gathering. Of course 3 of them are grown and so the roar that must accompany 10 is down to a manageable din with our 6, soon to be 7. At least most of the time it is merely a din. I invite you to follow along as we gather our 5th from China. I'm hoping that the trip will be sedate compared to life during our paper chase to him but I'm sure we're in for a wild ride once we are home.
Introducing the littlest T--
We leave April 11 on our journey to adopt this beautiful child and in just a few short days will hold him in our arms. If he will let us, that is. He is 3 years old and is living in a group foster home where he has become attached to his foster parents. This attachment and the love they have given him will help him become attached to us and to love us. It won't happen instantaneously and, as a matter of fact, he will be terribly frightened by the whole process and most likely us. Can you tell I've done this before? No sugar coating here. Our job will be to comfort him and love him until he can love us back. All of our children have had different reactions to those first days ranging from our first daughter's instant clinging to our son's screaming every time he looked at us. I can't wait to get there and see the first time he smiles for us.
