Timothy came by train to Taiyuan yesterday evening and spent the night at the orphanage. He made it to the civil affairs office before our appointment and was waiting for our arrival. When we walked in the room, he must have recognized us from our pictures because he immediately burst into tears and cried for his Mama. He was inconsolable at first with rivers of tears running down his face. He finally let me hold him and comfort him and he cried himself to sleep in my arms as we sat in the office. Our guide had to go back to the hotel for some forgotten paperwork so we waited while he slept in my arms.
He is so beautiful and tiny. And he definitely has my heart. I wish I could ease his pain but I know he will spend the next few days grieving for his foster family. It is beyond his comprehension why he had to leave and get a new Mama and family when he liked the one he had just fine. My little Tate was the same way when we got him and judging by his attachment to me now, I know that it won't be long before Timothy will stake his claim on me and not want to let me out of his sight.
I found out that his Chinese name, QianKun, now his middle name is pronounced like Chee-in Quin. It means Heaven and Earth. I love his name! He may not let us call him Timothy, at least not yet, so we will call him QianKun for now.
When we arrived back at our hotel room he settled in some and played with the toys I brought. I got some beautiful smiles from the bubbles. Bubbles are always a good ice breaker with the 3 year old set. He enjoys coloring and playing with his cars, too. Given a crayon and paper, he went to work writing calligraphy after drawing a straight line down the length of the page. I think we have another genius in our midst. He cried briefly for his jie jie, big sister, but was easily distracted by cookies. Another good ice breaker for any age. I know they work for me!
After nap, he did much better and we were able to have a rousing game of beach ball boink. This was Daddy's icebreaker and he got some chuckles and out right laughter. Good for Daddy!
yay! Thanks for the update! He's so cute!!!! Praying for you guys!!!
